Building Blocks

Class includes 13 sessions.
Every other Monday
Starting March 1st-August 23rd

Improve your knitting skills one square at a time! This class is designed for the knitter who is ready to go beyond knitting and purling.

Class Fee: $265
Instructor: Liz Fevig Hager

Materials Needed: Building Blocks student manual, 1400 yards (approx. 11 skeins) of chunky/bulky weight yarn. Size 10 24" circular needles, cable needle, blunt tip tapestry needle.
• Optional Materials: stitch markers, row counter.

All materials to be purchased separately and are available for purchase at PFAC. Each class focuses on the development of a skill while knitting a square or "block". Each block builds upon the skills of the previous pattern, giving knitters more confidence and knowledge. Blocks can be assembled into a lap blanket, 2 baby blankets or pillows.

• Yarn recommendation and in stock at PFAC: Cascade 128 Superwash Bulky. Colors can alternate between blocks or be one color for entire project. 10% off yarn purchased in store. Special yarn orders for this class must be placed by February 12th.

Building in Color

Class includes 11 sessions.

Master color knitting one panel at a time! This sequel to Building Blocks introduces new stitches and techniques with each panel building upon the next. Completing Building Blocks is not a prerequisite to taking this class.

Class Fee: $225
• Instructor: Liz Fevig Hager

Materials Needed: Building in Color student manual, 2808 total yards of DK weight yarn, size 6 24" circular needles, cable needle, blunt tip tapestry needle, stitch markers.
Optional Materials: row counter, sticky notes.

3 different colors of 936 yards each. 10% off yarn purchased in store. Special yarn orders for this class must be placed by March 5th. Worsted weight or varying yarn weights would work for this project as gauge not important-adjust needle size accordingly.

Yarn Recommendation: Cascade 220 Superwash Sport (by special order).

All materials to be purchased separately and are available for purchase at PFAC. Each class focuses on the development of new skills and ways of using multiple colors of yarn while knitting a beautiful panel. Each panel builds upon the skills of the previous pattern, giving knitters more confidence and knowledge. Panels are then assembled into a beautiful blanket - your own cuddly work of art!

Color My Cowl Class

Class includes 2 sessions, 2 hours each
Wednesdays April 21st and May 5th 5:30-7:30 PM at PFAC 

This class is a great intro into colorwork and building your skills. Learn colorwork basics, provisional cast on, and kitchener stitch in this two session class with Alice. Advanced beginner-intermediate skill level.

Class Fee: $65
Instructor: Alice Eberle
Materials Needed: Size US 7 circular needle-16" or 32"/longer for magic loop option, 660-720 yards worsted weight yarn in at least 2 colors (see pattern for color options/recommendations), size G or H crochet hook for provisional cast on, stitch markers, scrap yarn, tapestry needle. If making a single loop cowl, half the yardage is needed.

Absolute Beginner Class (ABC)

Each session includes two classes
Session 1: Tuesdays April 13th and 20th (SOLD OUT)
Session 2: Tuesdays May 4th and 11th
6-7 PM at PFAC

If you've always wanted to learn how to knit but haven't been sure how to start, this class is for you! It's designed with the absolute beginner in mind. We'll cover casting on, knitting, purling, binding off and trouble shooting all while creating your very first dishcloth. 

Class fee: $35

Materials needed: 1 skein of worsted weight cotton yarn, size 8 needles (straight or 24" circular) and tapestry needle. Recommended yarn and in stock: Nifty Cotton or Fantasy Naturale All materials are available for purchase at PFAC.

CAL Blanket with Cathy

Would you like to expand your crochet knowledge and make an afghan at the same time? Join me for a Crochet Along using Edie Eckman’s Skill Builder Crochet Blanket pattern! There is no charge to participate in the CAL, but each participant is responsible for purchasing the pattern and necessary materials. 

As we work through each of the 12 blanket squares, we will learn important skills to improve our crochet including:
• Crochet into the back bump of a chain
• Understand the use of turning chains
• Pick up stitches evenly along an edge
• Read pattern instructions
• Understand crochet symbol charts
• Understand stitch multiples
• Crochet twelve stitch patterns
• Create linked stitches
• Work rows without turning AND MORE!

Sweet Blossom Blanket CAL

Get ready to join us for the Sweet Blossom Blanket CAL!!  CAL starts Wednesday April 21st. Register to reserve your kit. Kit cost is $53.40 total, yarn will be available at PFAC. This easy, relaxing project is perfect for crocheters of all levels. It is constructed in one-piece and crocheted in complete stripes with no sewing up. Makers can see the beauty of the design and experience satisfaction as it grows. A new pattern will be released each week throughout this 5-week journey. Crocheters will be guided and supported through weekly downloads and how-to videos from sirdar.com, along with a dedicated Facebook group for support and sharing. The project steps through ten fabulous stitches including double crochet, treble crochet, griddle stitch, bobbles, granny strip and more!

The finished blanket measures 47" x 63" (120cm x 160cm). Blanket made in Hayfield Bonus DK.
